A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Iain Scott, studying mitochondrial metabolism, lysine acetylation and mitophagy. The candidate will initiate metabolic and biochemical studies of mitochondrial function and cellular physiology, using novel cellular and in vivo models. In particular, this highly-motivated individual will use newly-generated animal models to investigate the role of mitochondrial metabolism in cardiac and/or hepatic disease. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to benefit from the unique career and mentoring opportunities available in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal English communication skills, along with experience in cell culture, molecular/biochemical assays and studies involving small animals. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in using mice to investigate heart failure and/or metabolic diseases. A Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field is required. Eligibility to apply for NIH Training Grants would also be a distinct advantage.
