The prospective candidate will use microscopic techniques like total internal reflection fluorescence, epifluorescence, super resolution techniques like SIM and STORM, Scanning or Transmission electron microscopy and in vitro microfluidic platforms. Experiments will involve the use of transgenic SCD mice, blood from Sickle Cell Disease patients and microfluidics. Prior training in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques will be highly appreciated. Knowledge of using microfluidic technology is not necessary but candidates with experience in microfluidics are strongly encouraged to apply. Funding through T-32 training program is available for highly promising candidates who are US citizens or permanent residents. Our lab is located in the state-of-the-art Vascular Medicine Institute (VMI) of the University of Pittsburgh-School of Medicine.
